We are seeking a highly motivated Estimator for lump sum bids and negotiated contract work in our Waldwick, NJ headquarters. All projects are union labor. This position requires a highly professional and organized individual who can work in a fast-paced construction contractor business environment. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of related estimating experience, but we will consider someone with other mechanical construction experience looking to make a career change. Upcoming college graduates with an engineering or construction degree may also be considered and are welcome to apply.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed project estimates using estimating software and on-screen takeoff on projects ranging in size from $50,000 to $5,000,000 inclusive of all material, labor, equipment and subcontractors.
  • Identify qualified subcontractors and vendors by specifying scope and materials; obtain quotes.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and walk-throughs at customer sites.
  • Maintain good business relationships with owners, general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, and company colleagues.
  • Turnover estimates to project management team and consult with them as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining and analyzing historical bid data.
  • Make recommendations to drive alternative project scope solutions.
  • Related duties as requested.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma with a two-year or four-year college degree
  • Two to five years' experience with computerized construction estimating but will consider a recent college graduate with an engineering or construction-related degree
  • Computer proficiency and MS Office experience, including Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Good reasoning ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, schedule or diagram form
  • Must be able to read and understand project specs and drawings
  • Organization skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Math proficiency, high degree of accuracy and fine attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing as well as interact professionally with clients and co-workers
  • Must possess a team player attitude

We offer competitive compensation and a full benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance and 401(k) with profit sharing.
